H. Baum

Excellent. Thanks again for the input. I went with B. Majority doesn't rule here I guess. The book’s finished and I’m getting sent a sample copy to see how everything turned out, including a preliminary author photo taken today in our garage:

That’s what I look like. Book should be here in a week.

But now no one will know it's "a novel"! What if they think it's an autobiography? You'll be in deep trouble, mister.

Kidding. The cover looks great and I can't wait to purchase my custom-published copy.

I'll see how the sample copy looks. If it's all right, I'll put up a link.

I've been told that this author photo looks very dark on some computers. Looks fine on mine.

The shadow effect in the picture is cool.

Sign one on down and send it over and I'll give you ripe dollars for it.

Never read any of your stuff (on a printed page that is), but your my own favourite blue author.

From a random blog peruser...best of luck to you on your project and thank you for sharing so much with your readers!

Henry, who did you end up publishing with? Lulu? Are they helpful? Xlibris was a pain in the ass. They made almost 200 mistakes with the copy and made me pay for them, claiming it was my formatting. mostly m-dashes and shit like that.

Thanks for the mention of the Spoon. I clicked on the link you provided and my heart went into my throat when I saw 18 used copies available. They all appear to be false. ("Thousands sold!" haha)

Lastly, I saw Oscar Caliber Gun at the Strand the other day.

Thanks for writing, Fink. I went with Lulu because it's cheaper. It's really an experiment to see if I can pull this off. I had to design everything from scratch. I got a message yesterday that the book's in the mail so I'll see how it looks.

Very cool about the Strand.

Stumbled upon this blog with your name. H. Baum, I picked up Oscar Caliber Gun is still my favorite book since I picking it up on the sale shelf in 1997. Its dramatic cover attracted me to it. I've re-read it and had guests from out of town (or country) read it. Everyone has remarked that is an incredible book. Just noticed you have a second one, on the shelves or on it's way. H. Baum, I will be looking for you (not in a stalker fashion).

Err...sorry about that. Was v. distracted while typing that last note. Obviously I'm not a writer but should have at least proofread it before posting--you got the gist. Good luck.
