Jung Country

(via Posthuman Blues)

This man writes so I don’t have to. A Jungian analysis of George Bush by Paul Levy. There is something beyond normal bad about George Bush. He represents a general human spiritual and intellectual crisis, best typified by American aggression and basic stupidity. Anyway, let the man talk. From his very long article:

"One good thing I can say about President Bush is that he's gotten me interested in politics. Before he came to office, I was mainly interested in spiritual matters, and considered politics a 'distraction.' There was something playing out through George W. Bush as president, though, that not only caught my attention but strongly triggered something in me. In his campaign he promised us a foreign policy with humility, yet his actions seemed so arrogant, so full of hubris. I sensed a deep underlying incongruity, as if some unfinished psychological process was unconsciously enacting itself through him…The truth now needs to be uttered. George W. Bush is ill. He has a psycho-spiritual dis-ease of the soul, a sickness that is endemic to our culture and symptomatic of the times we live in. It’s an illness that has been with us since time immemorial. Because it’s an illness that's in the soul of all of humanity, it pervades the field and is in all of us in potential at any moment, which makes it especially hard to diagnose…In much the same way that a child's psychology cannot be understood without looking at the family system he or she is a part of, George Bush does not exist in isolation. We can view Bush and his entire Administration (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Ashcroft, Powell, Wolfowitz, etc), as well as the corporate, military industrial complex that they are co-dependently enmeshed with, the media that they control, the voters that support them, and ourselves as well, as interconnected parts of a whole system, or a 'field.' Instead of relating to any part of this field as an isolated entity, it’s important to contemplate the entire interdependent field as the 'medium' though which malignant egophrenia manifests and propagates itself. ME disease is a field phenomenon, and needs to be contemplated as such. Bush's sickness is our own."

i've said this before, and i will say it again. president bush's own horrible grasp of the english language and his impetuously pompus attitude lead me to believe he is one thing, a nigger.

go team thunder!

I truly hope that you have your own private, silly meaning for the word "nigger". The rest of us know only one meaning for the word and here's a tip: it's best not to use it, ever.

Go away, team thunder!

Defining one's political opponents as mentally ill is right out of the Stalinist / Fascist playbook.

What's next? Corrective lobotomies for Christians?

Henry Baum said...

Yes, that's the logical conclusion to this article: lobotomies for Christians.

lobotomies make christians boring--what they need is good hard assfucking. you know, anal is the new black.

Uh oh, I've invited her in.

Sabrina C,

I dunno...I don't think shock is any substitute for substance, even if you are trying to be some sort of existentialist artist types. I mean, I don't know where lobotomized donkeys assfucking "niggers" get you either aesthtically as a writer or as part of a larger point. But, I am one of those dumb, inarticulate niggers who probably "just doesn't get it, man."

people like sabrina, who are so unabashed keep it interesting to be sure. but, i have trouble understanding the arrogance that makes it ok to say whatever you want with no regard to who it may hurt. we are connected to each other. i listened to an audio post on her website where she joked that the people of asia deserved the tsunami. she didn't seem to care about it at the time, she was prepping for a hot party. i'm glad she has that luxury. then again, i'm sure i'm just another prude.

i think we take everything a little too seriously at times, and it's good to laugh at ourselves....i guess it's just a matter of taste -what you consider funny.

Joseph, I’ve had friends in my life who thought that it’s funny to make obnoxious racist comments as a way to show that they were above it all, and it’s worse to be uptight. Also they were trying to be confrontational. I’m sure there was an underlying racism to it too. Sabrina reminds me of them. This mainly went on in my early twenties so maybe age is a part of it. I didn’t know you were black. I hadn’t really thought about it. Though when I hear Joseph K, I think of Kafka, and he was white and Jewish…This has been a heavy commenting section.

I dunno, after I broke my neck, I just stopped caring about how bad things could be. Could they be worse than the worst possible situation I have been faced with--maybe, but in the grand scheme of things they pale in comparison. I will mock almost anything because, overall, people try too hard to be serious and make things worse than they are.

Like, without knowing me you would not understand my remote fascination with the words Chinese and Indonesia, and how they have become a staple in my vernacular. It has nothing to do with the people or the places, but the way the words are pronounced. And as for the nigger statement, which I stand by, I find that our president exemplifies the word in the true sense of its meaning, “ignorant.”

I do the things I do and I say the things I say because more often than not people misinterpret everything based on what they know about themselves and how they relate it to their situation--because of course--that is all they know.

On that note, I am going to go and try to conjure up some malaria.

Sabrina, you're a really good writer, it’s energetic in a rare way, even if it’s filled with a whole lot of hate, which is why I hung out on your blog for more than the requisite 5 seconds I spend at most blogs. I can understand being offended by what you wrote, but I also know where you're coming from.

The Joseph K moniker is a reference to the character from "The Trial." As for what I am, it is as complicated as you want it to be.

Frankly, I wasn't offended. I was just trying to frame the debate a bit differently. What does plain, pure shock get you? I realize that I am getting to be an old fart, but the sentiment that started all this sounded probably more vapid than Sabrina intended.

Joseph K,

Thank god you showed up, otherwise the responses to the carefree, devil may care Sabrina C would have been so much pissing in wind. (Personally, my prior comment was in response to what I thought was a random redneck who happened to stumble upon this site. I had no idea she was the approved and welcome racist.) I'm glad you commented, it's always great when a person comments from the "other side" (the side who is being persecuted or speculated about) because it reveals that everyone else is just full of shit, even if they are just trying to helpful or "nice". I don't mean to make too much of a comment made by a drunk, fucked up person, however, since so many comments have been made, I feel that your presence is appropriate and appreciated. After too many speculations and statements of bullshit have been made, all too often they become fact. I just wish I could have put it as well as you did.
